Hair Dos and Hair Don'ts

This post is long overdue as the kids got their first haircut at the beginning of April. One of Carrington's favorite books is Fancy Nancy's, Hair Dos and Hair Don'ts. She was almost 4 1/2 years old before we had the curly locks trimmed, so she was a little anxious about the process. In the book Fancy Nancy cuts her hair right before school pictures. Thankfully, we haven't had that experience! But, she was able to see that getting a little snip off the ends of her hair wasn't going to hurt and that it would grow back.

As you open the doors to the salon you immediately see the fun "chairs" and kids movie playing. My kids were sold! Waiting their turn became the difficult part. Carrington had her turn first and she chose the fire truck to sit in.

 snip, snip

I was surprised that Grayson picked the fire truck too. There was a Toy Story car just like the power wheels one he has at home. I was sure he would pick that but I guess he wanted to try something different. Grayson has really gained a lot of confidence over the last six months. He gets a little nervous in new situations but that is slowly starting to fade away. He hopped right in the truck and sat still and polite while she has trimming his hair.

Both kids desperately needed a trim. What a difference it made, not only in the look but the feel - much healthier!
Showing off their new dos!

On the way out, Carrington proudly announced that she loved getting her hair cut and was ready to have another one. I'm sure the sucker and toy help influence her willingness to come back again.
Oh, and they gave us a bag with each kids locks to add to their baby book! No big deal that they are 4 1/2 years old and 2 years old.
