Christmas Eve in Wilmington

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent at our house in Wilmington. It's a tradition we'd like to keep so the kids can have Santa come down our chimney, and so we can spend family time together remembering the importance of Christmas. Christmas Eve was jam packed with things to do in preparation for the next day.

We started off by making cookies for Santa. The ol' guy got to munch on sugar cookies decorated by Carrington and Grayson, and chocolate chip cookies.

Then it was off to Christmas Eve service at Port City Community Church. We had yummy taco soup (it's become a family favorite) for dinner followed by the kids opened their last Advent calendar with a chocolate surprise inside.

To keep with a tradition started by my mom and dad, the kids opened their Christmas Eve present and found a new pair of pjs inside.
 (nice face, Carrington!)
Daddy read The Night Before Christmas to get the kids excited about Santa's arrival. I put the following three pictures below to show you what typically happens when the kids read books together at night...Grayson bothers Hudson...
 Which upsets Hudson..
And makes it so Hudson doesn't get to read books, and Grayson goes back to being the center of attention!
Wait, wait, wait...we forgot to do two important things...feed the reindeer...
and leave cookies for Santa. We really did forget!! I had to get Carrington out of bed and Grayson/Hudson were already asleep so she did the duties for her brothers. Notice Sandy the Elf waiting for Santa to pick him up and take him back to the North Pole.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! For real this time!!!
